2 big boys at once!!

I ment to post this a few weeks ago. We had two big boy in one day.

Mason is officially a big boy, no more pull ups at night. He has only needed them at night, I was just to lazy to get up at night to help use him use potty. But I finally had enough, (pull ups are way to expensive) Way to go Mae Mae you did it!!

We cant forget our little Kachey, we offically threw all the binky's away. Yay for big boy #2. Kache loved his binky he treated it like it was his best friend. Whenever he would see it he would get the biggest smile on his face. I swear we had like 7 binky's around the house but I could never find one, especially when nap or bedtime came around, plus baxter kept stealing them. He liked sucking on them to for some reason. so I finally said no more. Good job buddy, we love you.

Mason comments!!

*when it snowed this week, I sent mason outside to play for awhile to get some energy out. when he came back in he said
Mason: Look mom, see the footprints in the snow.
mom: yeah!
Mason:It's just like Jesus footprints!

*Yesterday
Mason: Mom what are you going to be for Halloween?
Mom: an Angel
Mason: whats an angel?
Before I could anwser
Mason: Oh, I know it's someone who lives in heaven and helps Jesus huh!
I thought that was alot better awnser than I could come up with.

I should clarify!!

So I think my post yesterday was a little extreme. I did't lie in anyway but I think I was kinda on a negative note. I should let you all know we are all doing great!! Finding out about Diabetes has been really nice. My meals really don't have to be that fancy anymore, not that they ever were but Brandon can't have to much seasonings because it adds up the carb count so I really just make simple plain meals (Poor Brandon).Plus were not buying for many treats for the kids, so they don't go off on these sugar rushes anymore. And for me I am losing weight because there are no treats to tempt me. (you may think how awful, but the more you go without treats the more you don't care for them).

Oh by the way, they uped Brandon's insulin intake and he is feeling so much better, he has alot more energy and his appetite is coming back. Yay for medicine!

Diabetes and blacking out!!

WARNING!!! Just so you know this is going to be more of a journal entry, Sorry if you don't want to read just skip ahead, to my old posts.
For several weeks Brandon has been feeling kinda sick, He's been drinking over 200 qaurts of liquids a day and peeing constantly, his vision was starting to get a little blurry, he was feeling tired alllllll the time, he had no energy and in the last two months he lost almost 30 lbs. Crazy huh!! Well this last saturday i made him an appointment to see the Doc. He came home and sat us all down and said they found out what was wrong with him. I didn't think it was anything big, so I wasn't really taking him serious. But he got teary eyed and a little choked up and said he had Type 2 Diabetes!! I just looked at him, in shock. I didn't know what to say. He said they checked his blood levels and they were over 300 (while he was fasting) A normal person's should be from 80-120. Well I thought people with diabetes were either old people or overwieght people. Boy was I wrong! They started him on insulin that night, he has to take it twice a day (he sticks a 1 inch long needle in his belly inserting 10-20 mg of insulin at a time). Plus he has to prick his finger several times a day to check his blood level to make sure he isn't to high or low.
His body isn't making enough insulin wich transports the sugars to the rest of his body, by taking insulin it helps push the sugars to the right places in his body instead of just floating around in his blood stream.
THe hard thing about all this was he will most likely be like this the rest of his life.

This was alot to take in, all weekend and week I have been reading about diabetes. I have been learning what it it, what his nutrition should be like from now on. You may think it's not a big deal, but he can only have so many carbs per meal (meaning sugars) he has to have alot more veggies and meats he can't have hardly any sugars. SO basically I have to learn how many carbs are in every piece of food, so I can add it up and make sure he doesn't get overweight. DIABETES is very SERIOUS if its not monitored, they could end up in a diabetic coma. WHich the doctor told us today he was only 3 weeks away from if he had not gone in to get help.
I think its actually a blessing in disguise, this is going to really help us as a family, eat better and feel healthier.

On Monday I woke up to check on Brandon before he left for work and to see what his numbers were when I started to feel a like throwing up (I wasn't feeling very good kinda fluey) anyways I headed towards the bathroom and kinda blacked out, I thought it would go away but it didn't and I kept walking then I felt dizzy, and just kinda toppled over smacking my butt on the toilet and my head on the bathtub on the way down. When I came to I started dry heving for a minute. So, for the firt time in my entire life I blacked out and freaked Brandon out. He called in sick to both jobs, and had my mother come help watch me. Perfect timing, when I am supposed to be taking care of my poor diabetic hubby I pass out.

Diabetes is a serious disease, its been very overwhelming, but we have been meeting with doctors and dieticians and learning so much. I am so grateful that we know what is been bothering Brandon, I am so grateful that he has diabetes because now we know how to fix him, and make him feel better.

Halloween Time

we carved a pumpkin my parents gave us from their garden (isn't it huge) on friday it was lots of fun, Kache kept dropping his spoon inside to scoop out the seeds and would freak out because he couldn't reach it. After I cut up an egg carton and let them paint them, they turned out to be some pretty cool googles. After that we danced/listened to halloween music, I love halloween

These are some fun halloween cupcakes we made and our yearly pumpkin walk visit!.
